What the studio can take on for you

If you manage a guesthouse, a restaurant floor or a styling roster, most of what we do comes down to a few repeatable jobs. Here is what we handle, and how it usually runs.

Wall hangings to a set size

Knotted panels in hemp or linen cord, worked to the width and drop you give us. We quote per square metre, so a long corridor piece and a small bathroom panel are priced on the same basis. Indigo, madder or onion skin, depending on the room.

Dye runs that hold up to use

Cushion covers, table runners and napkins dyed in one bath, pulled at staggered intervals so the set reads as a family. French-folded seams and hand-stitched closures for anything heading into a commercial laundry.

Plant hangers and baskets

Small runs for reception desks, window sills and dining corners. Woven baskets come in two or three sizes, and the offcuts from larger commissions go into the smaller holders, so nothing from a big job is thrown away.

Sample rounds before you commit

We dye wet samples first and bring them to the table. You choose tones against your actual walls and light, not a screen. This is how the Sea Point covers were settled, and it saves a redo later.

Saturday bench sessions

Eight people at a time in the Woodstock space. Knotting basics, dye-bath prep and finishing, materials included, and everyone takes their piece home. Useful for team days or for staff who need to talk about the work with guests.

Dye notes you can keep

Every commission leaves with a written record of the bath, the mordant and the dip count, so a later order can be matched. Guesthouses use these notes for their own seasonal textile swaps.

Commissions start with a look at the current dye batch in the studio. Send us the room and the size, or read how we work through a dye run before you book.

What studio managers get from working with us

If you run a guesthouse, a restaurant floor or a styling studio, the questions are usually the same: will it survive daily use, will the colour hold, and can we order the same thing twice. Here is how we handle those, batch by batch.

Botanical Fibre managers

Dye notes you can reorder from

Every commission gets a written record: fibre, mordant, bath temperature, number of dips. When a cushion cover wears out two years later, we can match the tone instead of guessing at it.

Quoted per square metre, not per piece

Wall panels, room dividers and long table runners are priced by area, so a bigger wall does not turn into a surprise. You get the measurement breakdown before anything is cut or knotted.

Wet samples on the table

Madder and indigo read differently under restaurant lighting than in a photo. We bring dyed swatches to the site so your floor manager or head housekeeper signs off on the actual colour, not a screen.

Built for laundry cycles

Covers that go through commercial washing twice a week get French-folded seams and hand-stitched closures. Plant dyes soften with washing rather than fading out, which is usually what hospitality interiors want.

Offcuts stay in the building

Short cord ends from a large commission become small plant holders sold at the studio door. Managers who order regularly often take a few for reception desks and window sills.
